Meeting Our Community at Battersea Power Station

For WFOND, markets are about far more than selling. They are a chance to meet people, listen to their stories and share the heritage behind every piece we make. Our first market at Battersea Power Station introduced our handcrafted Chongming Tubu collection to a diverse London community.

For WFOND, markets are about much more than selling products. They are an opportunity to meet people, listen to their stories and share the heritage behind every piece we make.

Our first market at Battersea Power Station introduced our handcrafted Chongming Tubu collection to a diverse community in London. Throughout the day, our flower and puppy charms quickly found new homes, while many visitors were drawn to the quiet beauty of the handwoven fabric itself.

Some visitors recognised a sense of familiarity in the traditional textile, reminding them of memories from home. Others were fascinated by the unique woven patterns, discovering that every piece of Tubu is one of a kind and can never be exactly repeated. Many simply paused to touch the fabric, appreciating its natural texture, warmth and handmade character.

The greatest reward was the chance to speak directly with our community. Every conversation let us share the story of Chongming Tubu while learning what people value most in handmade objects. These exchanges continue to shape how we design, tell stories and build meaningful experiences around our work.

The market also reminded us to keep improving. We sold out of several products sooner than expected and came away with new ideas for better packaging and presentation. Every event teaches us something, helping us grow while staying true to our values.

A piece of fabric is never just fabric

For us, a piece of fabric is never just a piece of fabric. It can carry love, warmth and memories — whether shared with yourself, your family, a friend or someone you care about. We hope every object we create becomes a small bridge between people, cultures and everyday moments.

Every piece we make supports our community of makers.
